Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm and the captain of the Star Wars VII ship (well, the production side anyway) talked at length about the new film at Star Wars Celebration Europe, saying they are aiming to strike the right balance between CGI and story.

"The story and characters are all we’re talking about right now," said Kennedy. "We have an amazing team at ILM, who can create fantastic effects, but if we don’t have a great story and characters, the effects mean nothing."

She told the public that she has been splitting her time (her Star Wars time, anyway) between the Lucasfilm offices and the Bad Robot offices meeting with the head of direction J.J. Abrams and his writing team; she constantly emphasized the story aspect of the movie.

They have recruited Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan. Fanboys sigh collectively around the world. Common sense wins a small but probably ostensible battle.
