Mayor Rob Ford was the source of some comparatively unexciting news yesterday. His legal saga could have taken an unlikely turn into the realm of sheer contrivance but instead he was granted the “stay” anticipated by most legal experts. This decision avoided altogether the most undesirable potential outcome of Ford’s latest political mishap.
Since last Thursday’s University of Toronto Students’ Union Annual General Meeting (AGM), which reached a quick conclusion when the agenda failed to pass an approval vote, the topic of online voting in UTSU elections has lent itself to much discussion, in Simcoe Hall and online.

Access denied on copyright agreement

Although copyright law can be convoluted and incomprehensible at times, it is a critical issue for university students.

Munk debate on Iranian nuclear ambitions

Is print media dead?

On Monday, November 19, students gathered in the Bahen Centre for Information Technology to hear industry professionals assess the vital signs of print media. Despite an agreement among the panelists that technology is to blame for the decline of print, they offered optimistic outlooks about the future of the medium.
According to a recent poll commissioned by the Canadian Foreign Affairs Department, Canada is not doing enough to attract students from China, India, and Brazil. In these countries, Canada ranks among the least considered educational destinations. However, the University of Toronto rejects the idea that it is not an attractive institution to international students.
